Our goal is to utilize meat goats to their full potential in the eradication of unwanted and noxious weeds, undergrowth, and heavy brush that has caused a tremendous fire problem in our cities and states across the country. Because we stop lightning induced fires and other natural growth processes in our communities and forests, we have greatly increased the hazardous fire fuels. We humans, have also introduced invasive species of plants and pests, from other countries that have taken over our own natural fauna growth. The goats are browsers not grazers like cattle and sheep. They prefer to eat plants that are at eye level and above, rather than the natural grasses down low. By allowing the goats to browse the brush and undergrowth of invasive species, weeds, dead brush & leaves, the natural grasses can recover. This process is similar to fires, minus the pollution and harm it does to our environment. Over browsing can obviously also be a problem. Careful browsing is extremely important! Boer & Savanna meat goats flourish on the main problems that exist in our drought ridden communities. These animals are a proven success story throughout the world. The Boer & Savanna meat goat is an environmentally, safe and Effective alternative to government fire fuel management "controlled burns" & poisonous hazardous spraying for noxious weed reduction. At our ranch in Arizona we had used these Boer & Savanna meat goats to protect our own dwellings from several fire seasons and eliminate unwanted brush, weeds, and harmful undergrowth. It has proven to be extremely effective. If interested please give us a call: in MN call 651-248-7443
Brush area after a few minutes of feeding Brush area after 1 hour of feeding We Completed a Mt. Graham Project, June 2006, with the Coronado Natural Resource Conservation District to help reduce the influx of the noxious weed, Sweet ResinBush.
In June of 2007 we experimented with noxious weed control in Minnesota, particularly with Buckthorn. The goats love the Buckthorn and are doing very well on it. Because of the success of 2007, we will continue on the 80 acres of Buckthorn. Many of us have forgotten some of the natural ways to eliminate noxious weeds. One way is with goats, instead of fire and poison! Why waste good feed???? Minnesota is full of brush! With the continuing drought, why not eliminate your fire & weed hazards. The owner of the property, originally hated goats. After seeing what they can do, he is now given us an unlimited lease. He now has usable and desirable land.
